A year later, she was awarded the Cynthia Millman- Floyd Scholarship for her outstanding promise as a performer.

Junior Choir

The Junior choir performs on special occasions. Rehearsals are held during Sunday School on the Sundays preceding the presentation.  All members of the Sunday School sing in the Junior Choir and we have several soloists and very talented musicians.

Instrumentalists

Several accomplished musicians flautists, pianists, drummers and organists add an extra dimension regularly to the Voluntaries offered at our Sunday Worship service.  We are always interested in new recruits.

 Calling all Ringers

The MUC Hand Chimes were donated to MacKay by Paul (former organist and choir director) and June MacMillan in memory of their son Jamie.

Under the direction of Emily Beedell, an intergenerational Hand Chimes group meets to practice most Sunday mornings at 9:45 am in the Friendship Room. The goal is to enjoy music and perform for the congregation.

There is no minimum age; the only qualification is that participants should be able to concentrate for 30 minutes and be able to read either words or music. Please come and bring your friends!

Hand chimes are musical instruments similar to handbells. They are rung using the hands, and many handbell techniques can be applied to hand chimes. When combined, the two create a new and different timbre. They are tuned during manufacture and do not require external tuning. Hand chimes are inexpensive, lightweight and resilient instruments.
