Dr. John's next book Study will be the booklet "Our Words of Faith: A resource document prepared for the Remit concerning the Doctrine section of the Basis of Union of the U.C.C"
A "Remit" is a proposal. The UCC is in the process of asking all congregations to vote on a proposal from the 2009 General Council to add other faith statements to the Doctrine section currently in our Basis of Union (1925). The proposal additions are: 1. The 1940 Statement of Faith 2. A New Creed (1968) 3. A Song of Faith (2003) Since the addition of new statements of faith could possibly involve significant change in the way our church expresses our belief, this remit has to go to all congregations. I hope MacKay will participate fully in this important process. This will be an excellent opportunity for members, old and new to our church, to learn about what the United Church of Canada believes about the nature of the Christian faith.
